Building Permit!

We went and picked up our building permit today!!! It is official we can start building this week! We have scheduled Brian Kelly to come out and take a look at the site before he does a septic plan. (he did Gram's). For those who dont know we are planning on building a shop for spencer, the footprint is 24'x34' the upstairs will ahve 2 foot short walls, spencer measured Mum and Dad's house so we could have an idea of the size of the shop, the dementions are aprox. 24'x32' so basicly the same exact size. we plan to build the shop as a house for now and probably start building the house next summer, however that project will surely take much more time/money. so we will be living in the shop for a few years. the picture in the photo does not have the 2 foot upstairs wall and it is only 8ft walls we plan to have 10 ft walls, but beside that you can tell i have even painted my walls inside :)

Living in Maine

We have now been in Maine for 3 weeks, it has been so busy so I hope I have not offended anyone for lack of communication! We have planted most of the garden, a HUGE job seeing that neither Spencer nor I have planted a garden before! today I went looking for sprouts ( I have been quite skeptical of the plants actually growing from seeds, although i know they do and i have planted seeds before ( I was so sad to leave all of my plant starts back in Utah I had planted many variates of tomatoes peppers and cukes. I had about 50 plants :( ) anyways in the garden i went looking for sprouts, today I spotted many sprouts coming up for Ruby Red Lettuce, Beets, Rutabaga, Spinach, Potatoes, and Swiss Chard we have planted the following:
Red Potatoes (3 1/2 50' rows)

4 kinds of Cucumbers including Armenian Cucumbers in leu of Mum and Dad on their mission :)
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Radish
Parsnips
Possibly Sunflowers
and a few other things I am sure I missed.

Others:
Of course we have Rhubarb coming out our ears we have been harvesting quite a big harvest 2x each week since we arrived, and of course have kept gram supplied with all she could ever want.
we are also planting an herb garden right in front of the house.

It has been so much work but so much fun! People complain about Maine and the black flies but I really don't know why they have been bad supposedly but I have only gone inside once because they were so bad (when we were planting potatoes) mostly I have the misquotes which come out terribly bad at night, but it is no different than anywhere else in the country that I have lived.

CALLINGS:
Spencer was called to be the first counselor in the young mens presidency and has been asked to start the scouting program in the ward. I have been called to be the Piano player in primary.... I don't play the piano, when I was doing the best I could to practice, I had to ask what was a sharp and flat, I only know where middle C is when looking at the music, people think I play but I don't, so I guess I will be practicing A LOT! but at least Sue will get a break :)

The kids have had such a wonderful time with their cousins I truly don't think they could be happier! they play harder than ever every day! Rusty and Major are both getting more exercise than ever and will often just pass out in the shade to take a quick nap before playing some more. Spencer and I are anxious to get the house started, we have been working on plans and hopefully will be starting the house latter this week. I have loved being around Susannah and Gram I think we have had quite a time together! a few weeks ago I finally convinced gram to let me paint her steps for her, she kept telling me she had been scraping them, I told her to just let me get these little muscles some exercise and finish the scraping and painting, they now match her shutters perfectly.

Well I think someone is Pacing for the computer so I better be going but I will hopefully post the plans for our house in the next few days.

Love you All!
